Did the Marlins get a better haul for Yelich than Stanton? Save the salary dump.

Brinson is a pretty good prospect, but he needs to be good at the MLB level soon since he's already 24.

Overall, yeah, better than what they got for Stanton.

I honestly forgot that the Brewers choked away the division last year. I was thinking they were like the 4th place team in the NL Central last year.

    • The Cardinals have added right-handed starter Nestor Molina (no relation) on a minor-league contract, says Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com. Formerly a top prospect in the Blue Jays’ system, Molina is perhaps best known for being traded to the White Sox in exchange for Sergio Santos during the 2011-2012 offseason. The 29-year-old has never pitched at the MLB level, and has spent the bulk of the past two years pitching in the Mexican league. During the 2017 campaign, he pitched 152 2/3 innings across 23 starts to the tune of a 1.89 ERA. He’ll serve as an interesting depth piece for a Cardinals organization that has some question marks in its rotation, though it should be noted that Molina has only ever pitched four innings above the Double-A level.

He paints with a shitty broad brush, makes crazy leaps, and whines that a sports owner isn't front and center of metto haps and ultimately does nothing.

    A better article;

Shitty Cleveland Baseball team begins removing offensive logo. Good job, Indians. This is a small step towards not being shitheads.

$8.5MM isn't much these days and 2 years is nothing.

That Wright deal sucks and Cespedes makes a shitload, but other than that they have very little money committed going forward.

Good for Fraze. If he hits 25-30 homers, he's easily worth that and movable.

Clarification: Darvish six-year guarantee with #Cubs is $126M with ability to get to $150M, according to sources.

    Could be worse, I guess.

They'll probably regret the last 2 years of this deal but that's how these things work. Not bad from an annual per year standpoint when you consider it's less than Tanaka is making and Greinke is getting more than $30 million.

The deal isn't bad, but if Lester continues his decline, they're kind of back where they were.

Also seems like if they were to sign Harper next season, they would be in the luxury tax for a bit where it would really add up. That doesn't seem to be anyone's plan.

Probably won’t work out this way but I’d love to see Arrieta massively outperform Darvish. That guy is as much a reason as anyone else for their recent success and they seemingly had no interest in giving him a long term deal.

(Hopefully they don’t still sign him now)

    https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/jake-arrieta-turned-down-six-year-offer-from-cubs.html

Before the Cubs agreed to terms with Yu Darvish, Theo Epstein contacted Jake Arrieta to see if the former Chicago ace would be willing to accept a six-year offer in the range of the $126MM given to Darvish, FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman reports.

The way I read that (Heyman’s actual article), the offer was contingent on Darvish turning down the Cubs.

Would have been hilarious if they Tallon'd themselves right into luxury tax territory by having them both accept.

Cubs probably put it out there to save face on any potential criticism for how they treated Arrieta (obviously they didn’t owe him anything). Or, I guess, you could argue boras put it out there to show Arrieta turning down what Darvish signed for to get a contract size out there.
