It's entirely possible that he's better than any of the QBs coming out this year yet still not worth the #3. If they're not sold on Allen or any of the QBs, they should trade down.

They spent top 10 picks on offensive and defensive playmakers in the past two drafts. At least that's what they thought they were doing. I guess the jury is still out.

Not that any of you need a reminder why this team sucks, but:
    2008 Chris Williams
    2009 nobody
    2010 nobody
    2011 Gabe Carimi
    2012 Shea McClellin
    2013 Kyle Long
    2014 Kyle Fuller
    2015 Kevin White
    2016 Leonard Floyd

I think Kizer is going to be a very good QB in the NFL, and to miss an opportunity of drafting him because he's not worth the #3 is a mistake. I said it, somewhere, in an earlier post: if the QB is the most important position in all of sports, but you won't pull the trigger on it because the draft position is too high, then you need to reevaluate what you think of the position.

I don't think anybody is saying that. If Kizer (or whoever) becomes a very good NFL QB, then he absolutely is worth the #3.

Is that salary a joke? Dude hasn't started a game in 2+ seasons and was never anything special.

Good lord does this franchise blow the hugest of cocks if they sign this fucking pud.

He played all of part of 1 fucking quarter in the last 2 seasons and had a decent line in a blowout game in garbage time against a Falcons team that didn't give a shit.

Fuck Mike Glennon and any cuck who thinks he's an answer to any team.

Go sign with the fucking Jets.

Unless Glennon is there as a one year place holder for any rookie they may draft, I don't understand it at all. But even if he's just a one year place holder, why not just resign Hoyer to be your placeholder or backup, when he is going to come at considerably less money?

I just hope they don't look at the cap money they have free, and feel they need to offer big money to guys who are not going to be part of a long term plan, and I can't imagine Glennon would be part of that.

Mike Glennon should excite no one but from what the market is, $10 million a year for 1-2 years is probably fair value. Keep in mind that's like 6% of the salary cap. If he doesn't pan out for the year, the Bears really risk very little at that price. Glennon + a 2nd or 3rd round pick is something I like better than Hoyer.

Yeah completion % is worrying when you factor in that he was probably checking down a lot since he was a rookie and that's also why he has a low amount of INTs.

There's nothing really to get excited about the guy. He could be 'competent'. But my argument to that would be so can Jay.

Rosenbloom is generally but a blowhard, but not bad shit here.

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosenblog/ct-bears-mike-glennon-rosenbloom-20170308-column.html

The Bears’ marriage to quarterback Mike Glennon can’t be officially consummated until Thursday afternoon, if it’s going to happen at all, but rumors have it they're engaged, and so, this is looking like a ceremony without a best man.

Geez, what a tortured metaphor. Sorry. I apologize. But I can’t connect the dots here.

If the Bears tell you they think Glennon is their franchise quarterback, then ask them why he wasn’t the Buccaneers’ franchise quarterback.

Because the Bucs drafted an actual franchise quarterback, is the right answer. Jameis Winston is the right answer. That’s what a franchise quarterback looks like. Even the Bucs know it, in case the Bears are watching.

Or look at it this way: It’s hard to believe a guy is a franchise quarterback after he has been benched for Josh McCown.

But if the Bears won’t claim that Glennon is a franchise quarterback, then why would they sign him?

As a placeholder until an actual franchise quarterback shows up?

Isn’t that Brian Hoyer’s role in the NFL from here on? Like, a seat-filler at the Oscars.

John Fox wants to point out the success he had with similarly inexperienced Jake Delhomme in Carolina, then you can point out that Fox also was known for second-year turnarounds until he oversaw the Bears’ 2016 death spiral.

Here’s the thing: Whether the Bears sign the 27-year-old Glennon, the Bears still need to draft a quarterback, so, let’s look at that situation.

If the Bears sign Glennon and draft a quarterback they hope to develop, then how does an aging coach who’s coming off a 3-13 season and seemingly desperate to save his job this year give any reps to develop the draft pick when the new, 6-foot-7 free-agent starter needs all the experience he can get?

If the Bears sign Glennon, draft a quarterback and declare a quarterback competition, then that looks like another honeymoon period for a coach who has driven the franchise from six wins to three while driving out many talented offensive players in a league that gives offense a police escort, so ask yourself this: Is more Fox working with at least his sixth different Bears quarterback what you want around here?

And if the Bears declare a quarterback competition, then why would Glennon sign here?

Do you want a quarterback who would kneecap his free-agent choices by jumping at the chance to sign with a team where he wasn’t guaranteed the starting the position?

Do you want the Bears to throw around money in free agency to fill the most important position with a maybe?

The NFL Network reported that the Bears were Glennon’s preferred team, and I’m wondering, do you really want a guy who prefers a team with this offensive coordinator and these receivers?

Maybe this is just overheated media speculation borne of lies that every team and every agent spreads at this time of year.

Maybe the Bears will use the third overall pick to draft a quarterback and start him because they believe he is a franchise player.

Maybe they’ll trade down in the first round to get a quarterback they intend to start while also picking up a valuable extra pick.

    Maybe they won’t settle.

Maybe they’ll have a plan that connects all the dots. How novel would that be for that franchise?

That's the conclusion then. Those are the dots that connect. The Bears-Glennon thing makes sense if the Bears don't sign Glennon.

Spiegel and Parkins think the Bears should sign Glennon because there's no one else better.

Team is sitting on a golden opportunity to change the fortune of the franchise by getting and grooming a young QB, but their going to pass because this is the worst QB class since ________, until this time next year when that QB class is the worst since ______, until this time two years from now when that is the worst QB class since _________.

Instead, another cast-off from another franchise who coaches think can turn the corner under the right system, as if we haven't heard that the past 9 years already.

Can't wait for the safe pick of the DE with arthritic shoulders because our extraordinarily overrated HC is the one who is really calling the shots, and not Mr. "Teams should draft a QB every year."

It's far worse than Cutler. Cutler was a high first round pick with all the tools and athleticism to be a top tier QB. Glennon is a third round pick that was a really bad QB draft (EJ Manuel, Geno Smith, Matt Barkley). Glennon is not athletic at all and his one plus measurable is his big arm. Sounds like Jay with less accuracy, mobility
