That's not even a real NBA team. There are college teams that would beat that team.

I don't really follow basketball. I only catch little bits and pieces of info from here, sports talk radio and TV. I know a few of the superstar players around the league and could probably name a handful of ex bulls players from the last few years.

That said, I only recognize like 3 names on that roster.

I think I did this in the other thread but, assuming Wade gets bought out:

    1 - Dunn - Grant
    2 - LaVine - Valentine
    3 - Zipser - Holliday
    4 - Markkanen - Portis - Mirotic
    5 - Lopez - Felicio - Stone

That's pretty awful, but still plenty to beat a team of 19YO college kids.

I would hope Sabr is joking but even as a joke, it's a tired one.

The worst NBA teams are basically college all star teams and with players that have been on NBA strength training programs and workouts. Also with players in their physical prime. Lopez, Grant, Dunn, Markkanen and Valentine were all on top 15 college teams and they were usually the best player on those teams. Now they are on a team together.

Also Robin Lopez is bigger, stronger and more skilled than he was at age 20. Old ass Wade might not be able to keep up with college kids for 40 minutes but he would sure as hell be scoring buckets on a college defense. Zach LaVine was a 6th man in his one year of college. He averaged 19 points a game last year in the NBA. He's a different player than he was 4 years ago.

Mirotic hasn't signed anywhere yet. He's kind of in limbo. Most likely the Bulls gave him the small offer he deserves, somewhere probably around $5-6 million a year. He thinks he can get more from some other team, but time is running out.

Also why do the Bulls have 12 guards on the roster?
  11. y2chae
    Offline

    y2chae Panda

Correction: Mirotic has a 1 year $7.2 million qualifying offer from the Bulls. If he can't get a multi year deal to his liking, he will play on that deal. The Bulls have no incentive to do anything because they can match any offers as he's a RFA. If he plays out the qualifying offer he will become a UFA next year.
  12. Prope

    Prope RIP soxwon

Mirotic will play lights out next year, probably shoot 49% for 3pt, and average 19 a game. Of course, this will be done with absolutely no pressure put on him as the Bulls probably will not be in many close games. Whenever there are close games, he'll shrink like the RF that he is.

I need him out of my basketball world.

I could see him putting up 18 points a game on decent shooting on a bad team. Then the Bulls give him a 4 year $80 million contract and we're all fucked.

I hope Sabr is elite level trolling right now.

Arizona has a legit pro in Ayton and their top 3 returning players are nice college players who will probably be 2nd round picks. The Bulls have Wade, a few more lottery picks and like 10 total first round picks on their roster. Players who have gotten stronger since their college days.

Maybe the Bulls do have an all time bad NBA team? Who cares? It's still a de facto college All Star team.

A college team would make soft ass Mirotic look like a world beater too. He was playing for Real Madrid during his college age years, a team that could also beat down the best NCAA teams.

This is reasonable since anything can happen over the course of multiple games. Play the Blue Devils in Cameron, with their normal back pocket refs, and I can see a loss there.

You look at some of the Sixers teams at the beginning of the Sam Hinkie era and compare to this current roster - the Bulls blow it out of the water. Last couple of Nets teams have been dog shit as well. To be sure, on paper and the court the Bulls are a bad team. It's the hyperbole that is killing me here.

This roster destroys a supermajority of teams prior to 1980 and a decent number of teams since then. The talent level of the league is off the charts right now, which makes the Bulls look like ass compared to contemporary teams. But they're still loaded with exceptionally talented guys in their physical primes.

Wade isn't going to play for this team, so you can take him out. LaVine is injured until what, December at least?

    That leaves you:

    Dunn
    Valentine
    Zipser
    Mirotic
    Lopez

I don't know, man. That's a pretty awful fucking team.

Well you always judge teams to it's contemporaries. The Chicago Bears today could beat the 63 Bears by 5 touchdowns regardless of what rule sets you use (even more if they used modern football rules) because the players are bigger, stronger and faster (and blacker) than 54 years ago. Doesn't change the fact the 63 Bears will forever be considered champions and the 2017 Bears will be considered a joke.

That said, that doesn't make Sabr's point any less dumb. Even the worst pro teams are composed of the best college players. And even the best college teams don't have a team of great NBA pros. Just look at the Kentucky team had that 5 first rounders. Daniel Orton is out of the league already. Patrick Patterson is a nice role player. John Wall is the only true star as Cousins and Bledsoe are really nice players but right now they've proven they can't carry teams. Neither are the best player on teams that couldn't make it to the playoffs last year. And again, these players are much improved from when they were 19 year old kids.

Not to mention the NBA playbook is much more complex. NBA teams would run sets that a simple 2-3 zone can't stop. College teams also have 4 or 5 plays on how to defend an inbound pass. NBA teams have 30.

That's actually not terrible. Remember with the salary cap explosion (it has almost doubled in the past 4 seasons), look at it more like a 2 year $15 million deal relative to if it were 4 years ago.

Yeah finding out that it's just a one year prove it deal basically is nothing. They'll retain a ton of cap space for next season (no one will want to come here due to GarPax but we can dream). But it's a good time to be a NBA player.

Any NFL player who had the chance to be a NBA player is a fool. Like Terrelle Pryor. He was considered a top 50 basketball recruit. Pryor finally got somewhat of a payday as a WR this year in a 1 year $8 million deal. But he's 28 already and having a meh start to the season. Had he even been a backup guard in the NBA he could be on a 3 year $24 million contract, similar to Shaun Livingston. Also no CTE.
