Have we reached peak BCBS? The second round of distribution is this week. This might be the year that it sits on shelves for awhile. For example, Green Grocer (Grand and Noble) put 7 cases out this morning. I just passed overbythere. The store was empty, and most of it was still for sale.
Any more variants being distributed?
We were out of town and they only had regulars, which is lame and a limit of 1 per person. Years ago, place had the coffee and vanilla and a limit of 4 or 5.
Walked into the Jewels in TP around 10am on Friday and grabbed some regular BCBS. Will try to nab a Prop if I see it, but overall "LOL" at people who still get up at 5am on Black Friday and sit in the cold for the "special release" of a beer easily found all over the place if you give it a bit.
Yes. Green Grocer had barleywine.
Mariano's had both on Sunday morning. Only grabbed one bottle of BCBS.
Damn, I did grab a few older bottles of KBS.
CBS relesase haps this week:
at having to pay $30 to attend an event in Tinley Park.
That place sucks. I remember a couple of years ago they sent a letter to everyone in the neighborhood to please shop there cause they were going to go out of business. I think they're ok now but I would bet most of their business is people getting booze for the sushi place next door.
I shop there only a few times a year for rare items like beer, ramps, or guanciale. They have a basket in the back with free shit, and I usually grab something out of there to make the price point work.
Open Bottle rules. You, however, are a gay gentleman
Only place on the list charging for the event. Sounds RF af.
Ticket price Includes one 9oz pour and one brunch entree for an event that starts at 10pm and runs until 1am. Presumably all other awesome beers will cost additional money.
Language was cagey about whether those other beers are free or not: "Enjoy other Founders beers on draft until our special tapping!"
I'm guessing: not free.
Open Bottle event sold out, even though they're essentially charging $30 for one 9 oz. pour. On the outside chance that you actually want the included "brunch entrée" at 11pm ON A THURSDAY, it's from a fucking food truck. How much could it possibly cost?
Pretty clear that sycked is not the one who is being a gay gentleman, but rather all of the suckers who bought tickets. I'll probably go to the HopCat one or the South Loop Binny's one, like a heterosexual gentleman.
Wait, the brunch entree was for that very same evening?
Looks like they added this one:
That's right next to the new Off Color Mousetrap taproom and infinite holiday shopping haps, which surely will benefit from you starting off by getting completely tanked.
Big Hugs at Half Acre on Sunday, too.
I’ll be too busy watching Money Mitch vs Jimmy Garoppolo.
Both can be and are, in fact, true.
I've enjoyed my two brief visits to Open Bottle. Bartenders hooked me up with some free Transient Juice is Loose (granted I did purchase quite a few bottles. Still, gesture appreciated...)
I haven't mentioned this yet, but will now, my brother-in-law has been working to open up a shop. It's called Crafted 1979, and it's in Mokena. Opens tomorrow at 11am.
So for @CaptainBallz, check it out.
Intrigued. Though you might want to tell your bro-in-law to put some damn info about his company on the FB page and get his damn website up.
Website aside, but the FB page has the address, hours, and when the grand opening is.
How many 1 oz vials of Westy and rare Loons will your brother-in-law be serving at the grand opening? Should I get in line 6 hours before open, or earlier?
That it does.
Working out the kinks.
$55 gets you one 1/2-oz. Westy pour, and a coupon for $3 off a box of Strawberry Pop Tarts.
No artisanal pop-tart clones from a food truck?
I think the Jewel by the house is having that BCBS tap takeover tomorrow. They usually give you free beers.
My co worker is going to the Open Bottle event. She lives more than 35 miles away from Tinley.
I will be at the Wooden Hell release on Dec. 21. I'll see you in the parking lot (where I assume there will be a giant line)
Is she driving? Because even Open Bottle was all like, "I know everybody drives to Tinley, but please don't."
How do they expect people to get there?
Uber drivers like Zoso.
Standing out in the cold at noon on a Thursday?
Seeing if my cousin can set a few aside for my brother and me.
Standing in long lines for any reason?
What is this, Soviet Russia?
Especially outdoors in the cold as IWMB points out.
Every year someone asks me if I'm going to wait in line outside Binny's for BCBS. I'm certainly not going to wait outside in the cold for hours for some bottles of beer.
It's also for a beer that will, in no way, shape or form, approach the original.
I never had the original, seeing as I was 16 or 17, but I really liked it in August
Call Naperville DuPage Taxi. One of my brothers will take care of you. Just tell them Duke sent you.
What's the roll call for the pizza/beer thing in Bridgeport tonight?
