    One more thread.

Indiana has been booming of late. Y'all know 3Floyds of course, but there's also Sun King, Flat12, Upland, Shoreline, and others.

We probably should have one of these for Illinois, but they're opening so fast that I can't keep track, and the retards running this state probably will have half of them shut down before long.

Sun King is pretty good. Had the cream ale down in Bloomington a few weeks back, was very solid.

Upland = basically only place in Bloomington you can buy on Sundays = I consumed a lot of it senior year.
The Wheat Ale is pretty fruity, not my style. Dragonfly was normally my go to.

Three Floyds also has a restaurant attached to their brewery that has some really good food. Similar to the setup Two Brothers has in their Warrenville location.

Sun King has some good stuff but nothing mind altering. Upland's year-round offerings are piss but their fruit lambics are really good. Flat 12 shows ton of promise.

Two Brothers took over Walter Payton's Roundhouse.

    :knowledge:

A lot of the places mentioned in these threads have restaurants or taprooms with food. For example, Shoreline is essentially a restaurant.

My beer expertise is more focused IL and MI, but if you are looking for breweries/brewpubs in certain areas, this will certainly help: http://beermapping.com/

I go to Three Floyd's every time I'm back in Chicago. Place rules.

If we have to wait for a table, I just grab a six pack to drink in the car.

I don't really care that much about beer.

The appeal of beer snobbery is it's a marriage of something hyper masculine (beer) with being refined and discerning (talking about noses and yeast). And I think that's all around pretty gay.

I find beer judging far more rewarding (and far more, you know, possible) than wine judging, however. Beer varies so much in color, flavor, malt/hop proportion, carbonatedness, and additives you can actually fucking taste. Wine is such a crock of shit. There's no vanilla on that shit, it's just your brain being reminded of that shit. Beer actually has vanilla in it. Lots.

Fuck vodka too. Svedka for life. I defy you to blind taste Van Gogh or GG over Svedka Hoodka. 12.99 regular, 9.99 on sale.

    Warkoff.

If you've never been to Flat 12, it's in a kinda funky industrial area next to a stream next to a residential area. Hard to describe but also a bit hard to find. Anyways, apparently the area is expanding, because some sort of smoked/cured meat place recently opened across the street and they sell their wares at Flat 12. Definitely worth a visit IMO.

Canary in the mineshaft. The craft brewery movement is not sustainable, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Smoked/cured meat place rules. They sell prepackaged stuff at Flat12 and New Day so you can eat with your booze. Recently they started selling cured meats and terrines to some fancy places in Indy like St. Elmo's.

You can get their products in Chicago at Green Grocer, Door to Door Organics, and the expensive as fuck market they have at North Pier once in awhile. My recommendation: Pick up a block of their pancetta to make any dish pig-flavored.

Brought back some Sun King, Flat 12, and New Albany, as well as a bottle of cider from New Day, and of course some BBC from right across the border in Kentucky. Speaking of KY, Against the Grain in the ballpark in Louisville is tits.

18th St. was mentioned in another thread as it's essentially a Chicago brewery, but it's technically from IN (kinda like 3F).

Anyways, tried their sinister dipa (bomber for $10 at Binny's). It was solid, but frankly a lot of people can produce beer that is equally good. I assume they are getting support for biographical reasons. We'll see if that is . . . sustainable.

I mentioned 18th street.. Sinister is a well made double. $10 for that bomber in my opinion is worth it.

Also another good Chicago brew is Atlas brewing

$10 for a bomber of local DIPA is bullshit. Stuff needs to come down to $8 on the regular (like Galaxy-Hero), especially 18th, since they're contract brewing at Spiteful.

Also why is it that Half Acre is local and they dont deliver to south burbs
