Probably too early, but NFL offseason haps?

I'm a little optimistic about Mitch, he has a lot of bad reads and terrible mistakes, you know shit he could have learned weeks 1 through 4.

Mike Glennon still has me angry

Given that Trubisky had possibly the worst offensive coaching staff the NFL has seen in 40 years and no playmakers on the outside, no pass-catching TE for the last half of the season, a lead back who can't catch the ball, and an OL that was missing 3 of its best 5 guys (along with the coaches mismanaging that situation), the fact that he completed 60% of his passes and wasn't a turnover machine is encouraging.

Fuller Trump had no ideas, he just went too far

Plus the fact that we all know he has a downfield game but was certainly very restricted from that area of the playbook (due to bad play calling and severe lack of talented receivers) gives me hope.

He only attempted 20 passes of 21+ yards and completed a whopping 7 of them. And only 50% on passes 11-20 yards.

Although looking at a handful of other non-stud QBs, that's just slightly below average maybe.

Still dude needs some fucking weapons.

It's easy to complete a high % without turning the ball over when you can run the ball and never throw down the field...but he DIDN'T complete a high % (59% is bad by 2017 standards) and his TD:INT was a horrible 1:1. They asked very little of him, and he didn't do it very well.

Even assuming that they add some guys who can get open deep, I'm not ready to assume that he can complete those passes like an elite NFL QB. He can play in the league for a long time without being elite...but "worse than Cutler" isn't what they were shooting for when they drafted him. He was just a rookie and potentially can improve a lot. Maybe he turns into Goff. Maybe.

Carson Wentz in 2016 completed 62.4%, had a 16/14 TD/INT ratio, and averaged 6.2 yards per attempt. Rated 79.3.

Jared Goff in 2016 completed 54.6%, had a 5/7 TD/INT ratio, and averaged 5.3 yards per attempt. Rated 63.6.

Mitch completed 59.4%, had a 7/7 TD/INT ratio, and averaged 6.6 yards per attempt. Rated 77.5.

I don't know what he'll end up being, but his numbers are comparable (and in some cases better) to two guys who made huge leaps in their second year.

It's not like they can just go sign Tom Brady.

Yeah, that's the thing, true elite QBs don't ever hit the FA market. At least in the prime of their careers. So the key is a team has to develop a QB and this is what development is. Most rookie QBs are crappy in their first year. You can also add guys like Stafford, Eli, Brees, Derek Carr to the list of guys whose numbers are comparable to Mitch when first playing in the NFL.

And like it was pointed out, Mitch had one of the worst offensive coaching staffs in the league, the worst WR group in the league and maybe even the worst pass catching TE group in the league once Miller was out. Yeah the Bears have a good run game but Howard probably dropped at least 10 passes this year and he's not respected as a pass game option. Offensive line when healthy is good but not great and by the end of the season they were down Long and Sitton and had to play guys like Grasu and Sowell.

Maybe they don’t want to end up like the Bears after firing Lovie. I thought that would mark the moment the Bears joined the rest of the NFL in the 21st century.

They were 32nd in offense, so they pretty much are the Bears after Lovie.

If the Pats win this year, no way they break up anything as no team has ever done a 3 peat.

It is true though that Belichick finally banished Brady's quack trainer and that's caused a rift. Man, Brady is so dumb. Maybe he has CTE and that's why he believes in some of this shit.

    Also this

"reasons that remain unclear"... he wanted to play and not sit behind Brady for another 2 years? After what he did with the Niners this year, they are going to have give him $20+ million a year.
